Zipped sweatshirt East Germany 1970's
The best decade in modern East German football history is remembered for the famous 1974 World Cup group stage victory over West Germany, but probably more should have been done. Jürgen Sparwasser, Jürgen Dörner, Jürgen Croy, Eberhard Vogel, Bernd Bransch, Martin Hoffmann and Peter Ducke being active and at the peak of their careers. In the 1970s, East Germany should have been a regular participant in the World Cup and European Cup of Nations tournaments. Despite always difficult home opponents in qualifying, the East German team never managed to manage the results away from home. As a result, the 1974 World Cup was their only major participation in non-Olympic tournaments.
