Cork City was created in 1984 by merging a number of local teams. A constant struggle to avoid relegation made the club's early days difficult, but as the decade progressed the results were better. Cork's first silver medal came with the Munster Senior Cup in 1988 and many more trophies will follow in the decades to come.
