Our selection Ultra brings together the football boots Puma designed for speed: Ultra Ultimate, Pro, Match, Match+ and Play, both Nitro versions and laceless models, for adults and children. They are available with FG soles for natural grass and FG/AG soles, which also accept synthetic turf, to keep up with strikers and wingers on all club pitches.

Lightweight design for speed.

The Ultra, the speed shoe from Puma since 2020

Puma launched the Ultra in summer 2020 with a simple promise: to provide the fastest possible shoe for players who stand out by their acceleration. Everything is designed for lightness: a thin upper that hugs the foot without unnecessary padding, a lightweight sole, and studs placed to promote forward thrust, much like athletics spikes. Attackers and wingers, who make deep runs and short sprints, find a shoe they can forget about, with a direct ball feel thanks to the slimness of the upper.

Ultimate, Pro, Match or Play: which level to choose

The Ultimate, high-end, features the Ultraweave upper, a super lightweight fabric that stretches in four directions, reinforced with PWRTAPE bands to hold the foot during changes of pace, and a double-density SpeedPlate sole. The Pro carries the same spirit with slightly simpler materials. The Match and Match+, thicker and more durable, are suitable for club players who train two or three times a week. The Play, entry-level, supports beginners and kids. The LL versions, without laces, and the Nitro editions complete every level.

FG and FG/AG soles: on which fields to play

Most Ultra shoes come with an FG/AG sole, designed for dry natural grass and next-generation artificial turf: its conical and bladed studs penetrate the ground without getting stuck, reducing strain on the knees. The FG-only versions, reserved for natural grass, offer a more aggressive grip. In muddy conditions in winter, a sole with screw-in studs is safer, and on stabilized or old artificial turf, a TF sole with small studs prevents slipping. Choosing the right sole also protects the shoe, as the slim upper doesn't cope well with overly hard surfaces.

Frequently asked questions

Do Puma Ultra run small?

They generally fit true to size, with a fairly narrow shape designed to hug the foot. Wide feet should try them on at the end of the day, with their match socks, and go up half a size if the front of the foot feels cramped.

Which Puma Ultra for a child?

The Play versions and the child models in FG/AG sole are designed for young players: flexible upper, versatile sole, and junior sizes. The versions without laces can be put on by themselves, a real plus for the little ones at football school.

Who is the laceless version of the Ultra for?

It offers a sock-like fit and a uniform striking surface, without the lacing relief. It is suitable for narrow to medium feet, but requires careful fitting, as the support relies solely on the upper and elastic collar.

How to make such a fine speed shoe last?

Clean it after each match with lukewarm water, let it air dry stuffed with newspaper, never near a radiator. Reserve it for matches and key sessions and alternate with a more robust training pair.

Is the Puma Ultra suitable for a defender?

A quick full-back, who often overlaps, appreciates its lightness. A central defender, who engages in many duels and clearances, would prefer a thicker, more protective upper, as the slimness of the Ultra is mainly an asset for running and speed.
