Our selection Predator brings together the adidas control boots: Predator Elite, Pro, League and Club, versions with fold-over tongue FT, laceless LL, Kaká edition, Predator Accuracy, for adults and children, available in FG, AG, MG and TF soles.

The shoe for control and striking.

A legend of control

Launched in 1994, the Predator is one of the most famous football boots. It was born from an idea by Craig Johnston, a former Liverpool player, who imagined rubber elements on the upper to better grip the ball and give more spin to shots and passes. Worn by generations of playmakers and free-kick takers, it remains the adidas boot of control, with a textured striking zone that adheres to the ball.

Elite, Pro, League or Club

The Predator is available in four levels. The Elite, high-end and worn by professionals, offers the best striking texture, a thin upper and a lightweight outsole. The Pro takes the essence from it with some simplifications. The League, versatile and robust, is suitable for regular club players. The Club, entry-level, supports beginners and children. The FT version, for Fold-over Tongue, features the large foldable tongue of the historic Predator, and the LL version, laceless, offers a uniform strike.

The right sole

The sole is chosen according to the pitch. The FG, with molded studs, is made for natural grass. The AG, with more numerous and shorter studs, is suitable for the latest generation of artificial turf. The MG, mixed, accepts both. The TF, with small studs, is designed for firm ground and hard pitches. Playing on artificial turf with an FG sole damages the boot and exposes players to injuries. You should choose your Predator with half a centimetre of room in front of the toes.

Frequently asked questions

Who invented the Predator?

The idea came from Craig Johnston, a former Liverpool player, who envisioned rubber elements on the upper to better grip the ball. adidas launched the boot in 1994.

What do FT and LL mean on a Predator?

FT refers to the foldable tongue, a nod to the historic Predator models, and LL, for Laceless, indicates a laceless version, with a sock-like fit that offers a uniform striking surface.

Which sole to choose: FG, AG, MG or TF?

FG for natural grass, AG for synthetic, MG for alternating between the two, TF for firm ground pitches. An unsuitable sole quickly wears out the boot and increases the risk of injury.

Does the Predator fit large or small?

It generally fits true to size. The laceless versions, which are more enveloping, may feel tight when putting them on: with a wide foot, try half a size up.

Predator or speed boot: which one for a midfielder?

The Predator aims for precision in passes and strikes, ideal for playmakers and free-kick takers. Attackers who rely on acceleration prefer a lighter and thinner boot.
