The new ComTac VIII has been improved in many technical and visual aspects compared to the ComTac XPI:

The user language can be customized in the menu (English, German, Spanish, and French).

Redesign of the headband, which is even more ergonomic and comfortable.

The modified shape of the earcup creates more space for the ears to enhance long-term wearing comfort, especially when combined with earplugs.

The speak speakers are angled to provide more space for the ears.

Aesthetic properties of the ambient listening function significantly improved: The microphones for detecting external noise are no longer directed straight ahead but are slightly positioned outward, similar to the human ear. This allows for better directional hearing. They are also positioned behind the windshield protection foam in a funnel-shaped housing, resembling the shape of the human ear. This offers an even more natural sound reproduction and better wind noise protection.

Sound profiles for ambient listening: You can choose between the "standard" and "extended" settings in the menu. The standard setting (= ComTac XPI) transmits ambient sounds linearly (naturally, without emphasizing certain frequencies more or less). The "advanced" settings allow you to define different sound profiles:
Mission Audio Profile 2: Comfort (for example, near machines, vehicles, or firing ranges)
Mission Audio Profile 3: Conversation (communication with people in noisy environments)
Mission Audio Profile 4: Patrol (communication with people in noisy environments)
Mission Audio Profile 5: Observation (particularly suitable for hunters)

Earplug mode: Double protection through the combination with passive EAR-Classic earplugs (tested and approved EN-352): SNR = 40 dB
