It penetrates deep between the links, providing a protective water- and dirt-repellent layer to extend chain life.
(You can use KHEAX NETTOYANT DEGRAISSANT "Super Degreaser" (517183) to help you with this task). Apply the wax to a dry, clean chain, ideally the evening before.
