A historic season for a unique shirt. After just missing out on promotion the previous year, when the dream was shattered in the playoffs, the grigiorossi achieved their goal: to return to Serie A after 54 years. They finished in 3rd place in the final standings after an exciting series.

Led from the bench by the young emerging coach Emiliano Mondonico, the team was driven by the young Gianluca Vialli, whose 10 goals made him the top scorer for Cremo that season. The 3-3 draw against Palermo on June 3, 1984, mathematically brought the wonderful and unique grey and red colours back to the top of Italian football, unleashing the irresistible joy of the supporters.
