The Z-Max Evolution tread, Ritchey 's signature mountain bike tread for over a decade, is the culmination of years of VFA development and design. The tread lugs are wider apart and shorter for improved handling rapide, reduced rolling resistance and lighter weight.

The WCS version has a dual compound and is ready for tubeless tires - softer sides improve cornering, firmer center section rolls faster and is more durable.
