Jersey Pologne 1982

With its glory days of the 1970s looking to be behind it, the Polish national team rebounded in style with an exceptionally strong performance at the 1982 World Cup in Espagne.
It was a team with stars like Boniek, Buncol, Smolarek and Zmuda and it won its World Cup group with a 5-1 demolition of Pérou - all goals were scored in 21 minutes in the second half.

Another emphatic victory followed in the second group stage with Belgique defeated thanks to a Boniek hat-trick.
This earned the Poles another place in the semi-finals where the eventual winners,Italie, proved to be simply too strong.

Pologne could be satisfied with a third place finish thanks to a playoff win over France.
