The fabric pattern pays homage to vintage herringbone canvas, and to ensure durability and desirable aging properties, we have piece-dyed it in a lovely olive shade. After a gentle wash, the fabric features and the garment construction are subtly highlighted.

Want to know more about herringbone fabric? We're glad you asked! Herringbone is a variation of the regular canvas weave pattern. While regular twill, like that seen in denim, has a distinct diagonal pattern, herringbone is characterized by broken diagonal lines, creating a notable zigzag pattern (more pronounced than in broken twill). The zigzag pattern, resembling the skeletal structure of a herring, is compact yet distinctive. Herringbone is often found in vintage workwear jackets, particularly those of French and German origin, often in blue or grey shades. Moreover, it is well-known for its use in vintage military attire, commonly referred to as HBT. The choice of herringbone in work and military clothing can, to our knowledge, be attributed to two main reasons. Firstly, changing the direction of the twill enhances tear resistance. Secondly, at a time when the sanforisation and shrinkage processes had not yet been developed, herringbone displayed a reduced tendency to deform compared to regular twill.
