Description +

The straps on each side of the Bates Stock stirrup are designed to complement your Bates Kimberley saddle and feature a usual width of 1 1/4 inches with a top-quality leather core for added strength. A traditional sleeve allows you to mount with the buckle close to the stirrup. Due to the more relaxed riding position of a stock saddle, with the rider's lower leg in a more forward position, it’s generally more comfortable to use traditionally designed stirrup straps.

To properly place the sleeve on the straps on each side of the Bates Stock stirrup:

  1. Start by fully unfolding the straps and separating the sleeve.
  2. Pass the pointed end of the stirrup straps through the sleeve, with both logos facing you.
  3. Slide the sleeve up to just below the buckle.

Adding the stirrup and looping the straps

  1. Pass the pointed end of the stirrup strap through the eye of the stirrup with the logo facing down.
  2. Pull the pointed end of the stirrup strap through the eye and slide it up through the sleeve and behind the buckle.
  3. Secure the buckle to your desired length.
  4. Pull the pointed end of the stirrup straps through the buckle and down through the sleeve.
  5. Both logos should now be visible again.

Pulling the buckle down

  1. Loosely hold the top of the stirrup straps, behind the buckle.
  2. Since there is a lot of leather to pull down, it’s easier at this stage to use your hand as a temporary stirrup bar rather than placing the straps on your saddle's stirrup bar.
  3. Pull the buckle towards your stirrup.
  4. The sleeve should now fit snugly against the stirrup with the buckle just above the sleeve.
  5. If the eye of your stirrup is large enough, pass the excess back through the eye. If not, fold the excess under the top of the stirrup.
  6. Finally, slide the remaining length back through the sleeve to secure it.
  7. From there, you can attach the stirrup straps to your saddle and make any length adjustments if needed, using the steps above.
