skeleton brakes: the careful choice of material is one of the guiding principles for the design of each component. since it is difficult to determine the exact stresses in the various sections of a brake, we have concluded that the best material for construction is aluminium alloy. superior stiffness combined with even lower weight: this is the goal that our campy tech lab technicians have achieved with the design of the skeleton brakes. an advantage that has been extended to almost all groupsets in the catalogue, from the athena to the super record. the front brake, thanks to the double-pivot structure, is able to grip the rim with a force that constitutes about 70% of the total braking force, the single-pivot rear brake prevents the rear wheel from swerving due to the lighter rear axle by applying a lower force than that applied to the front wheel. the single-pivot structure also reduces weight by a few grams compared to the double-pivot structure. the analogy is obvious: just think of the abs system in cars that prevents the wheels from locking up during braking and the greater efficiency provided by this system.
